Roman Placzek, "Prayer" for Three Violins and Piano - set of parts
A complete set of parts with a score.
Roman Placzek's "Prayer" for Three Violins and Piano is the composer's arrangement of an enchanting composition, originally for two violins and a piano, that artfully combines a neo-romantic style with a captivating crossover flavor. This evocative piece showcases a beautiful blend of platonic yet passionate longing through the enchanting interplay of the two solo instruments alongside the alluringly innocent piano part. Initially composed in 1993 when the composer, Roman Placzek, was just 19 years old, the revised 2023 version now features several sensibly included measures, enriching its emotional depth and complexity. This version of "Prayer" for three violins and a piano is a commission. In 2006, after recording the original version, one of the violinists asked the composer if arranging the piece for three violins and a piano in a somewhat "junior" version would be possible. The violinist intended to assign "Prayer" to the students for a local competition. The composer agreed and quickly combined the original with a popular string trio version. The piece was a hit, and students brought home first place. The current version is a revised, newly arranged version for three violins and a piano suitable for junior violinists of early advanced and late intermediate levels. The piano part is authentic to the original version, which is well within the skill set of a well-trained piano student of latte intermediate level with established chamber music experience.
