PROGRAM DESCRIPTION (in a nutshell)
First of all, this program is not a competition! This program aims to encourage the compositional creativity of young composers and spark their interest in expressing their inner thoughts and reflections on the world by composing chamber music pieces. Our goal is to encourage them to create compositions reflecting societies' current struggle to come to terms with diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Selected compositions will be rehearsed and performed by the esteemed Nezhdanova-Placzek Duo and its Intensive Chamber Music Program 2024 participants. They will also be published, cataloged, promoted, and maintained* by the newly formed BumbleBee Notes™ Music Publishing company. It is a unique opportunity for young composers to see their work come to life and reach a wider audience. The composers of the selected pieces will be invited to the premiere public performance of their piece at the final concert of the Nezhdanova-Placzek Duo's Intensive Chamber Music Program 2024. Each composer will be publicly recognized there and receive the publication contract and a valuable certificate, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey.
The organizers deeply value young composers' creativity and are committed to supporting as many as possible. If we receive a more significant number of excellent compositions than we can accommodate at the concert, the authors of these additionally selected compositions will be offered a publication contract. This is a testament to the quality of their work and our unwavering belief in their talent. Upon signing the contract, they and their pieces will be publicly announced at the concert, and their pieces will be published, cataloged, promoted, and maintained by BumbleBee Notes™ Music Publishing company, ensuring their work gets the recognition it deserves.
For an in-depth description of the Call, please visit the Detailed Program Description page.
*Subject to the signing of a legal contract, The BumbleBee Notes™ Music Publishing company will not only assume the role of the publisher but also provide comprehensive support to the selected composers. They will assist them with the ASCAP registration and ensure the fair distribution of royalties, if applicable. This robust support system is designed to give young composers the confidence and reassurance that their work is in good hands, allowing them to focus on developing their compositional talent.

ELIGIBILITY (who can apply?)
Any young composer between the ages of 15 and 21 from anywhere in the world may apply.
Our program is deeply committed to diversity and inclusion. Initially, we focused on providing opportunities to young composers from underrepresented communities. However, we've evolved to create two categories, ensuring equal opportunity for all young composers. This not only opens the door for any young composer to submit their composition but also allows Category 1 candidates to showcase their talent with two compositions, one for each category.
Please note that when applying for both categories, each application must be submitted separately and accompanied by a full application fee. One application for both categories with one application fee will be rejected without the opportunity for free resubmission.
In both categories, only new, never-performed compositions created specifically for this program will be accepted.
